Ceramic Materials and Food Safety

Ceramic materials are among the products that come into contact with food, and ensuring the safety of these products is of utmost importance. In parallel with the European Union’s Council Directive 84/500/EEC, the Turkish Food Codex Food Contact Ceramic Materials Regulation (Regulation No: 2012/30) has established the analysis procedures for ceramic products.
In accordance with this regulation, special analyses are performed to determine the potential migration of lead and cadmium from ceramic materials to food.
Properties Required in Ceramic Materials:
- The migration of harmful chemicals into food must be prevented.
- The risk of dangerous substances such as lead and cadmium migrating from ceramic materials into food must be controlled.
Oxigen Analytical Laboratory, equipped with modern devices and accredited with ISO/IEC 17025, performs these critical analyses on ceramic materials in accordance with regulations. The analyses are conducted using the ICP-MS device to obtain accurate and reliable results.
